The article deals with the diversity of ideas and positions emerging in feminism. It is argued that a common form of feminism theory, developing since the second half of the twentieth century and until present, is the criticism of universality. According to the theorists of feminism, the culture identifies universal with masculinity: ideas put forward by men, the nature of their perception of the world and activities. Criticism of the universal status of the male subject in the patriarchal, andro- and phallocentric culture proceeds at first towards assertion of "uniqueness" of not only women, but also men, therefore, non-universality of the latter, and further until the justification of the need to recognize principle and individual differences of women themselves.
