Phenomenon of ecological tourism as a mainstream of modernity

The article discusses various approaches to the definition of "ecological tourism". In general, there are two main approaches to the definition of ecological tourism sector. In the first case eco-tourism considered a type of tourism, the main object of which is the "wild" nature. Other scientists equate the concept of eco-tourism and sustainable tourism or ecologized one. The last is a type of nature-use, which not leads to the degradation of resources, because part of incomes from its development is used to restoration and protection of them. The article analyzes both approaches to the definition and proves its precariousness. The author distinguishes three groups of definitions of "eco-tourism" based on its comprehension. The definitions, which are general and abstract in nature and do not reflect the specifics of ecotourism, are combined into the first group. The definitions that represent only 3 components of ecological tourism are included into the second group. In the third group there are more specific definitions, with accent the various aspects of this type of tourism. The author attempted to formulate own definition of "eco-tourism": it is nature-focused type of tourism, which aims to harmonize the relationship between man and the environment; it has the important function of environmental education and upbringing. Relatively undisturbed natural and distinctive cultural landscapes, sensitive attitude and respect for ecosystems, promotion of environmental projects and improvement the welfare of the local population are the mandatory conditions for eco-tourism development.
