The phenomenon of computer games: the historiographical aspect

The article considers the representation of the phenomenon of computer games as one of the types of auditory-visualized arts, the peculiarities of its perception and analysis on the example of those historiographical traditions that have developed in the field of English-speaking and Russian-speaking segments of cultural science. In addition, the framework of those philosophical connotations that are applicable when considering virtualized game content, characterized, among other things, as a special type of text-cybertext, is outlined. The author pays attention to the possibility of considering the space of a computer game as a specific form of "simulation of the historical process".
