The article is devoted to the comprehension of the phenomenon of addiction as a social problem nowadays. The authors draw attention to the mass character of addictions, the dangerous tendency to their spread in the social medium and substantiate the necessity of special study and comprehension of the phenomenon of addiction in the frame of special middle-level sociological theory - the sociology of addiction.
