The phenomenon of Russian patriotism: social and philosophical analysis

The phenomenon of Russian patriotism is examined in accordance with its relevant aspects. The historical aspect of the analysis reflects the main milestones in its origin and development from Old Russian thinkers through domestic literary works and philosophical religious essays, philosophy of Russian Enlightenment, Silver Age to domestic Marxism and Russian expatriate philosophy. The conceptual aspect represents a range of different points of view of domestic researchers on nature and content of Russian patriotism. At the same time, the psychological, sociological, axiological, etatist, and personalistic concepts are analyzed. The essential aspect defines patriotism and determines its levels (personal and public) and elements (patriotic conscience, patriotic attitude and patriotic activity). The typological aspect of patriotism classifies it as state, Russian nation-wide, national, local, civil, emotional and false patriotism. Functional discourse of patriotism analyzes its following functions: educational, henotic and protective ones. Besides, functions of patriotism are criticized by domestic researchers.
