In this article, the author considers the reasons behind the lack of originality in the works of many contemporary Russian Orthodox biblical scholars and potential approaches to overcoming this lack of originality. In this regard, the author compares and contracts various hermeneutic methods of phenomenology with and without presuppositions and their applicability to biblical scholarship.
