Фибрилляция предсердий - самое распространенное нарушение ритма сердца, наблюдаемое в клинической практике. Несмотря на успехи в диагностике и лечении, фибрилляция предсердий остается одной из ведущих причин сердечно-сосудистой летальности и заболеваемости. Распространенность фибрилляции предсердий в последнее время увеличивается, что обусловлено улучшением диагностики, старением населения и увеличением распространенности заболеваний и факторов риска, ведущих к развитию аритмии. Фибрилляция предсердий и сердечная недостаточность достаточно часто диагностируются совместно. Комбинация этих заболеваний может увеличивать риск инсульта, количество госпитализаций и летальность от всех сердечно-сосудистых причин. Фармакологическое лечение фибрилляции предсердий является тяжелой задачей, особенно у пациентов при сниженной фракции выброса, поскольку большинство антиаритмических препаратов обладает отрицательным инотропным эффектом. В настоящее время фокус в лечении аритмии смещен в сторону стратегии контроля ритма, а именно - катетерной абляции. Несколько исследований продемонстрировали, что абляция легочных вен может улучшить результаты лечения и прогноз.
