Tatiana Georgievna Malchukova left a deep mark on the history of Petrozavodsk State University. Her research and teaching focused on antiquity and Russian philology. She emphasized the importance of studying classical languages and ancient poetry in university philology education and advocated for the training of philologists, especially Russianists, in two specialties based on classical languages. Her work was driven by the belief that philology is a combination of poetry, research, and creativity. She was a poet herself. Poetry is not only about verses, but also about the state of the soul, inspiration, and enthusiasm. Tatiana Malchukova believed in the organic transition from antiquity to Christianity, and that antiquity encompassed the Gospel. Thanks to her efforts, Petrozavodsk State University became a truly classical university. It not only had traditional university faculties and institutes, but also had a department of classical philology that taught ancient languages and studied antiquity.
