Philosophy and social sciences: topical issues and prospects of developing science periodicals in the Volgograd State University

The article, devoted to the 20th anniversary of Science Journal of Volgograd State University, analyzes the topics and determines development perspectives of Series 7 - Philosophy. Sociology and Social Technologies. The article also shows the interconnection with the traditions of scientific periodicals in the field of philosophical and social sciences, already existing in the Russian high school and academic environment. The authors analyzes the role of Science Journal of VolSU. Philosophy. Sociology and Social Technologies, being a platform for discussing urgent issues of the philosophic and social knowledge. Furthermore, the research defines the most topical, meaningful and debatable topics, which have been touched in the journal’s articles over the last years. In addition, this article gives a review of articles’ topics and content in the framework of permanent and themed editions. Besides, the study reflects the perspectives of the journal’s evolution in order to integrate it in the scientific community and enhancing its academic reputation. Finally, the research presents the urgent publishing issues, taking into account the specificity of the subject area and target audience, and suggests long-term goals on integrating the journal into analytical databases.
