The native and foreign literature devoted to the role and the participation of rumen microbiota in ruminant animals in digestion of food nutrient substances is reviewed. The cellulose lytic bacteria as the main participants of rumen fermentation of vegetative food with large amount of cellulose had a special attention. The role of adhesion of microorganisms with nutrient substrates and glycocalyx in rumen digestion was presented.
