Objective: to study physiological prerequisites of health maintenance and promotion in 11-13-year adolescents engaged in taekwondo. Material and methods: health status was determined in athletes as presence or absence of various diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system and foci of chronic infection, as well as using the following techniques: study of physiological and functional parameters of cardiovascular and respiratory systems (according to various indices); measurement of adaptive capacity; assessment of health according to Apanasenko. Results: research showed significant reduction in foci of chronic infection and reduction in injuries. Analysis of the results of measurement of physiological parameters at rest in control and experimental groups of adolescents engaged in taekwondo showed significant positive changes by many tests of functional readiness in both groups, but, in comparison with control group of young taekwondoers, experimental group had much higher degree of positive change. Findings: thus, in experimental group, after the implementation of recommendations on accurate organization of the training process, the level of health in young taekwondoers significantly increased and at the end of the experiment reached health index above average.
