The article analyzes F.M. Dostoevskys views on the path of development of Russia, the evolution of the writers views in the 1840-s, as well as in the 1860-s and 1870-s. Special attention is paid to Dostoevskys assessments of the teachings of utopian socialism by S. Fourier, the concept of soil science, thanks to which the writer saw the transition of the Russian people to enlightenment and the possibility of fundamental changes in Russian society.
