The Kalmyk language phonetics and phonological system of the XVIII-th century in Stralenberg’s vocabulary

There aren't any reseaches in the theory of the Kalmyk language of the XVII-th - XVIII-th centuries in the Kalmyk linguistics. The works about the Kalmyk colloquial speech of that time are absent. That's why Stralen-berg's Kalmyk-Mongolian Vocabulary is in a great interest, in which there are Kalmyk words, having been heard in the Kalmyk colloquial speech at the beginning of the XVIII -th century. In this article the first attempt is made to study the questions of the Kalmyk language phonological system of the indicated period using words, fixed in Stralenberg's Vocabulary. This Vocabulary let us fix the phonetic structure of the Kalmyk language, and its graphic (letter) conformity. The comparative and systematic methods were used to fix the phonemes.
