The formation analysys and its place in geological science

The Formation analysis, which is a complex research method, is being widely used in Geological science. Despite the changing Geotectonic Hypotheses of Geosynclinal - Plate-Tectonics - Tectonic Stratification of Lithosphere and others, the researchers continue allocating Geological Formations, and, on this basis, they use to make Geodynamic, Paleotectonic and Paleogeographic reconstructions and prospects of different kinds of mineral resources. In the article the author gives his examples of the Formation Analysis application, in the process of the Japan Sea Continent-Ocean Transitional Zone study.
