Formation and development of media competence of students

The article raises the problem of development of students’ media competence in the process of education in the information society. The thesis is defined that the modern media space forms not only a vast potential for quick access to databases, but also the risk of intoxication of students' consciousness with harmful information. The application of the technique of Troyanskaya S. L. is justified as the diagnostics of media competence. The analysis of other methodologies is produced. Under the condition of extrapolation of these studies insufficient development of media competence of Russian students was revealed. The variants of its development on the basis of practical, game, creative tasks are offered.
