Identity construction in polyethnic educational environment: challenges of multiculturalism and historical consciousness

The matter of the ethnic identity construction is considered in the modern globalization processes. The historical background for various strategies of the national identification, their crisis in the second part of the 20th century, the uprise of the multiculturalism doctrine as an answer to the growing ethnic segmentation of the western societies are analyzed. Influence on the historical consciousness through the humanitarian disciplines teaching is considered as the key instrument of the identity construction.
