Development of innovation clusters: experience of the Republic of Korea

The article discusses the features of transformation of industrial complexes operating in the Republic of Korea into innovation clusters. The author traces the history of industrial parks in Korea, the first of which were established in the early 1960-s, notes the change of the goals of their formation by decades. The paper lists the features of industrial complexes of the Republic of Korea determined by the central role of the government in the process of their creation. The problems faced by Korean industrial complexes in the early 2000-s are outlined.
