Formation of ethical competences in the social medium

The article analyzes the phenomenon of the emergence of a new set of ethical problems associated with the mediatization and digitalization of society. It is stated that in Russia, unlike Western countries, there has not yet been a generally recognized ethical code of conduct in social media. In this regard, the author proposes and substantiates the need to observe ethical principles in social networks, enshrined in the codes of ethics of journalists (primarily, the Code of Professional Ethics of a Russian Journalist). In addition, the experience of developing ethical media competencies among students in the framework of the HSE Media Workshop, which has been existing since 2020, is summarized. It is concluded that it is necessary to continue the public discussion about the admissibility of certain forms of behavior in social media in order to develop and fix ethical standards of behavior in the digital environment.
