Formation of the cultural identity of the Russian province territory (on the example of the city of Murom)

The identity, cultural and symbolic potential of Russian territories form the basis for the formation of the cultural identity of individual regions. It is emphasized that this is necessary to preserve the uniqueness of the traditions, the history of the “small motherland” for each person, as it allows the private to convey the common: through the regional identity formed nationwide. The cultural specificity of the Murom region allows us to speak about its rich religious and historical potential for educating the younger generation of moral qualities, respect for the past and present of their native land. All this determines the peculiarity of the regional cultural identity of the Murom society. The population of the region is a spiritual and cultural community, immersed in the environ-ment of social being, characterized by local value and mental specificity. Human individuality is formed and developed in it. Regional cultural identity is fixed in the public consciousness of the inhabitants of a particular territory and is affirmed by objective forms of culture, the activities of social institutions, attitudes or worldviews of various social groups. It is concluded that the state policy on the formation of a national community should be based on regional identification processes to preserve the unique in the all-Russian with the priority of inte-gration processes.
