The article deals with social, psychological and pedagogical conditions for development readiness of senior schoolchildren for situations of fire risk, considers the need for fire safety skills training for youth, which is a priority for society. This problem can be solved only through formation of safety culture. The role of schools in inculcation of safe behavior rules for children is emphasized. We identify the forms of class and extracurricular activities that contribute to preparedness of children for safe behavior in emergency situations, analyze the work in this area in educational process of school and educational activities in out-of-school hours. The statistical data on fires and their consequences are given. We have defined the components of children’s safety behavior, organizational and methodological measures for their implementation, as well as aspects of professional orientation of youth in the field of security. A comprehensive approach to organizational and methodological activities ensures safety behavior of children. We offered the methods of improvement fire safety skills training for senior schoolchildren.
