Formation of staff at Tyumen lower territorial court in the second half of the XVIII century

On the basis of archival cursive documents, the article reconstructs the actual history of Tyumen lower territorial court of the period of Catherine II. The author describes its structure and functions, the staff, and "office" dynasties. Survival of the Russian state in difficult geopolitical conditions depended in many respects on the quality of service, including Tyumen officials and employees. Professional qualities, personal devotion and the period of service were essential for promotion.
