The proposed approach to assessing the effective functioning of industrial enterprises takes into account both the achievement of rational production, technological, economic, social, environmental, and innovative components, as well as the requirement for their comprehensive implementation. The assessment of the effective functioning of industrial enterprises is based on the model for calculating the final integral index of effective functioning, which takes into account the set of composite indices for individual aspects of the enterprise's activities. The use of technological benchmarking in the process of implementing the best available technologies allows avoiding the trial-and-error method of technology selection. At the same time, technological benchmarking, as a tool for selecting the best available technologies, should be integrated into the process of an enterprise's effective functioning. The methodological approach presented in the article is illustrated using the database of a number of real industrial enterprises and has demonstrated its practical applicability. The presented approach is largely universal, taking into account the specific boundary conditions of enterprises' activities in terms of the importance of their production, technological, economic, social, environmental, and innovative components.
