Formation of students’ educational culture in the context of family relations

Parents are the primary educators of their children, so to organize the effective education of children, they need relevant knowledge in education science and psychology. In order to improve the educational culture of future parents the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation has developed a program of pedagogical support of family education. Today the educational culture of young parents is mostly forming spontaneously: under the influence of older generation or mass media, and only on rare occasions it is developed as a result of self-education, or by counseling of a specialist. The main indicators that characterize the educational culture of parents include: considered acceptance of the role of educators responsible for the development of a child; power of empathy, reflection, self-control, self-regulation; ability to cope with their own personal problems, without prejudice to the emotional well-being of the child; flexibility of communication with the child in different situations and as he matures. The learning of psychological and educational science subjects in the course of study in a higher school allows the students to become competent in the fields of marriage, parenthood, to learn the peculiarities of the modern family and parent-child relationship.
