Forming the speech image of a high school student by means of a communicative role system in foreign language teaching

The relevance of the study is determined by the need to develop students’ ability to consciously represent themselves in the process of intercultural communication in a foreign language, which can be achieved by modifying the personal component of foreign language communication competence in the context of foreign language teaching in high school. The aim of the work is to develop a methodology for forming the speech image of high school students based on a system of communicative roles integrated into the content of an elective course in English. The research methods used include theoretical analysis of psychological, pedagogical, and linguistic literature, as well as modeling a system of speaking skills that takes into account the characteristics of selected communicative roles, tones, and types of communicative personality. As a result of the research, the level structure of the speech image was substantiated, and a system of modifi ed monological and dialogical speech skills aimed at the conscious formation of the speech image was proposed.
