The formation of social competence of students during their extra-curricular activities

The essence of the notion «extra-curricular activities» is discussed in this paper. The role of the extra curricular activities in the process of development and formation of students’ social competence is analyzed. A list of pedagogical abilities which influence the formation and development of social competence is presented. Particular attention is given to the analysis of the experience of extra curricular activity organization by tutors of students’ groups in Samara State Technical University. The author’s course «Me and My Profession”, which is held during tutor’s period in SSTU and oriented on the formation of the Humanities department first-year students’ social competence, is analyzed.
