Formation of motivation among university students to engage in physical culture

The article analyzes the motivational component of students to engage in physical culture in universities, on the basis of it, the main factors of stimulating and increasing their interest are established, aspects of students' motivation for physical culture and sports, psychological and physiological motives are revealed, the concepts of long-term and short-term motivation are disclosed, as well as demotivation. The analysis of the survey of students of non-physical education universities revealed the need associated with increasing the variety of educational and sectional classes in the discipline of elective courses in physical culture and sports, and especially in eliminating monotony during such classes. It has been established that the main factors for stimulating and increasing students' motivation for physical activity are: improving the quality and content of physical education classes, the efforts of teachers and coaching staff to bring students' personal desires closer to the subject tasks of physical education.
