Piano accompaniment as a means of creating folklore flavor in V. Gavrilin's “Russian Notebook”

The article is devoted to the study of the role of piano accompaniment in creating folklore color in Valery Gavrilin's vocal cycle “Russian Notebook”. The article analyzes specific techniques of textural, harmonic, rhythmic and timbre writing in the piano part aimed at imitating the sound of folk instruments, recreating the genre features of Russian folk music and deepening the figurative and semantic content of the cycle. Particular attention is paid to Gavrilin's innovative approach to treating the piano not as a mere accompaniment, but as an active participant in the musical drama, forming the unique folkloric atmosphere of the piece. Specific musical examples illustrating the composer's ways of achieving an authentic folk sound by means of an academic instrument are considered.
