The paper considers development of regimens and analysis of efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) anc fluorescent diagnosis (FD) of oral cancer using a new photosensitizer photosense (PS). FD with PS in 33 patient; provided diagnostically significant information about disease advance and allowed identification of subclinical lesions FD demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity. PDT resulted in complete tumor response in 69,7%, partial response in 27,3, stabilization in 3,0% of patients, the overall response rate being 97,0% Response to PDT depended upor several factors including tumor size, localization and previous treatment, light dose and light delivery technique. Gooc functional and cosmetic results with minimal damage to adjacent tissues were achieved in all cases studied. The Ps is not toxic in recommended doses, main side effect is long-lastinf skin sensitivity to direct sunlight, thus leading tc limitation to light exposure. Reduction in PS dose to 0.4 mg/kg of body weight and administration of antioxidantsfor 12 months after PDT led to a considerable decrease of complications and facilitated patients adaptation to light exposure
