Photoperiodic male self-sterility in sunflower. Demurin Ya. N., Peretyagina T. M., and O.M. Borisenko. "OIL CROPS" Scientific bulletin, VNIIMK, 2005 is. 2 (133). Fertile sunflower lines VK876 and VK175 were planted in a phytotron chamber at 24-light day photoperiod during head flowering. The anthers of disc flowers did not grow in this case. These photoperiodic male self-sterility (FMS) plants served as a female in the crosses with using biochemical seed markers - a high oleic mutation and tocopherol. Both FMS-plant output and hybridization level were at 100 % without self-pollination of the female plants.
