This article presents a review of scientific publications on the problems of physiology and pathology of cerebral circulation of the outstanding Soviet physiologist Svetlana Pavlovna Nogina. Systematization and analysis in chronological order of the main stages of her research work allows us to trace the origin and development of the concept that reveals the fundamental mechanisms of the system organization of cerebral hemodynamics. In the course of research Svetlana Pavlovna Nogina gradually comes to the conclusion that the understanding of the systemic mechanisms of cerebral hemodynamics is possible only on the basis of studying the features of the organization of blood supply to the right and left hemispheres of the brain. She explores the severity of vascular asymmetry of the brain and tries to understand the nature of this asymmetry. Based on the analysis of her experiments, Svetlana Pavlovna comes to the conclusion that symmetrical channels, including their cerebral sections, represent qualitatively different types of blood systems, which are strictly coordinated in their structural and dynamic characteristics, forming a stable spatially-developed "contour" that supports the balance of blood supply to the right and left hemispheres of the brain In her mind gradually formed a concept that reveals the mechanisms of the system organization of cerebral hemodynamics...
