The article considers the works into the analysis of irony techniques using the example of teacher’s speech and teaching material. The special attention is paid to the particularities and functions of irony. The author states that irony as categorical and evaluative form of comic has more expression and possesses a greater degree of exposure in comparison with other techniques, and requires therefore a more in-depth study.
