The functional activity of neutrophils of peripheral blood in young cattle produced from seronegative and seropositive cow-mothers

In this article there are presented the results of analysis of the dynamics of the activity of the oxygen-dependent mechanisms of neutrophils in the blood test with nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT-test) in young cattle produced from healthy and from positively reacting in an immunodiffusion reaction (RID) with glycoprotein antigen to the virus bovine leukosis (BLV) of cows-mothers. For the research there were selected the 80 heads of young cattle of different age period: up to 3, 5-6, 12... and 17-18 months, born from mothers of virus carriers. As a control there were used also the 80 animals of the same age groups, obtained from clinically healthy cows- mothers, non-reacting in the RID. It was found that at the young cattle from the RID-positive cows-mothers, the activity of oxygen-dependent mechanisms in spontaneous NBT-test significantly exceeded (in 1.3-2.76 times) the indicators of cattle born from the RID-negative animals in all periods of observation. Nevertheless, the indicators of the functional reserve (coefficient of stimulation (CS) and the index of respiratory reserve (IRR)) attested of its readiness to a complete phagocytosis at all calves up to 4-6 months of age. Thus, the values of the CS in average did not fall below 1.97 ± 0.25, and the IRR - 2.72 ± 0.64 %. In the neutrophils of peripheral blood of the offspring, obtained from sero-positive cows-mothers, with 12 months of age is a qualitative change, ac- companied by disturbance of intracellular metabolic processes, as indicated by a decrease of the CS up to± 0.07 vs. 1.29 ± 0.14 in a control group of animals and IRR to -0.05 ± 0,04 % vs. 1.02 ± 0.55 % of younganimals from healthy cows-mothers. Such a negative restructuring also developed in the body of 50 % of young animals of 17-18-month age from seronegative, but it was less clearly expressed. Thus, the CS have ranged at them from 0.59 to 0.91, while in young animals born to cows of virus-carriers, the vast majority was from 0.02 to 0.12.
