The article considers major development stages of the function-oriented organizational structure of a chain company in the FMCG retail sector. The research defines interconnection between business functions in the process of the consumer value establishment, presents the scheme for functional model development and considers connection between structural elements of chain companies and their models. As a result, the research has shown that the most reasonable way is to develop function-oriented models separately at the company level in general and at the level of trade chains that belong to the large chain retailing company. Development of the function-oriented model of an organizational structure will facilitate further identification of business processes that serve as a basis to implement business functions, define the borders of the major organizational units and evaluate the contribution of each function to the process of consumer value establishment in the chain retail of the FMCG sector.
