Introduction: The offence set forth in part 1 of article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation has a history of legal regulation and its specificity. Since this act is recognised as a criminal act by the entire world community, international treaties that enshrine its characteristics and obligations of states are of particular importance. Therefore, the author within the framework of this study analyses one of the blocks of such agreements as a source of interpretation of the essence of war crimes.
