"The ugly duckling" of G. C. Andersen in animation of V. Degtyarev and Walt Disney: reinterpretation and interpretation

The article analyzes Walt Disney's and V. Degtyarev's animation versions of the tale of Hans Christian Andersen in the context of interpretation and reinterpretation of the original text. According to the authors, the animation of Walt Disney is a new approach to the Anderson's fairy tale that allows to define the work of the foreign director as a reinterpretation, while the domestic animation of V. Degtyarev is an example of careful attitude to the classical heritage and can be classified as interpretation.
