Gametocidal action of imidazolinones in herbicide-resistant sunflower

The research was directed to modification of backcross procedure in obtaining male sterile plant with development of imidazolinone resistant lines carrying Imr or CLHA-Plus genes. The treatment of heterozygous plants with Euro-Lightning at the early generative development stages allowed to produce male sterile plants which can be used as female in hybridization. In this case herbicide acts as a gametocide with no action on dominant homozygotes of these genes.
