Touring activities of the chamber Jewish musical theater in the Soviet press

The paper reconstructs the reflection of the activities of the Chamber Jewish Musical Theater of the second half of the 1970-1980s in central, republican, and regional periodicals. The main focus is on covering the touring activities of the theater. The author analyzes the techniques of journalists, their interpretations of the stage play of actors, and the work of theater director Yu.B. Sherling, the founder of the Chamber Jewish Musical Theater. The geography of touring activities of the theater is considered. The process of perception of the work of this theater by Soviet viewers of different nationalities is analyzed. The conclusion is made about the degree of interest of the press to the work of the Jewish theater. Due to the lack of performances in the repertoire, the themes of which were recommended by party bodies, relations with the authorities were not easy, which was reflected in the touring policy. It is determined that the assessment of the activities of the Chamber Jewish Musical Theater by the media and the authorities did not always coincide.
