The fragments of newspaper publications in the context of A. M. Dostoyevsky's diaries

The article considers the functional and stylistic features of the intertextuality between the diary and newspaper genres in the context of A. Dostoyevsky’s diaries. The combination of the both genres is based on the artistic and poetic characteristics of the diaristic narrative. A. Dostoyevsky applies to newspaper publications within his diaries for the artistic dynamics of the text. At the first side, the publications can be connected with the fates of the inner family circle of the author (the sister and the brother Varvara Karepina and Fyodor Dostoyevsky, the elder son Alexander). Then newspaper fragments, quoted through the pages of the diaries, describe the biographical author’s episodes and represent the syncretism of his internal psychological time with the historical process. Widening the stylistic space of the diaries A. Dostoevsky reflects his feelings outside, changes the poetical communication of the text - from intimacy to publicity. The biographical newspaper publications don’t break the plot and thematic line of the diaristic notes, but they correlate with them. At the second side, A. Dostoyevsky includes in the narrative a lot of newspaper articles that are not definitely connected with his family history. They cover the epochal historical events, for example: international chronicle, phenological notes (so-called “Bulletins of nature” by D. Kaygorodov), reminiscences about the famous writers, military figures of the past, members of the royal families, various statistics, facts and so on. Thus, the newspaper notes inside the diaries of A. Dostoyevsky play the important stylistic role: they evolve the art individuality of the manuscript text, making the author’s observations more public and expressive.
