Gas formation in aluminothermal smelting of ferrotungsten

The paper describes the results of analysis of gas formation in the ferrotungsten smelting hearth. New hearth design is proposed, where the gases leave reaction zone through a gas-permeable heat insulation filling and a perforated frame. A comparative analysis of results of melts carried out in the hearth of new design and in a lined hearth is presented.
