Data on infectious diseases in the Russian Federation and the detection of infections in blood donors in 2013 and 2014 have been compared. In 2014 compared with 2013, the share of infections identified in donors nationwide declined: HIV - by 7.5%, hepatitis B - by 11.1%, syphilis - by 3.6%. The part of donors with identified markers of viral hepatitis B and C, syphilis is higher than HIV in 2014 - at 513.6%, 904.5% and 745.5%, respectively. Changes in infection donor population in 2013-2014 are identical: increasing of HIV and HCV, reducing of HBV and Treponema pallidum. There are no data on the number of persons tested for markers of hepatitis and syphilis among the population, that makes less than the calculated frequency of detection of infections in persons who are not involved in the donation, compared with fully evaluated blood donors. The high rate of infections among potential blood donors makes the need to improve all elements of infectious safety of blood services.
