Global gender equality and career opportunities for women in regional policy in the Russian Federation members

The article provides an assessment of gender equality in different countries, including Russia. Information is provided on the situation in countries where the best level of gender equality has been achieved in four indices: education, health care, economic participation and political opportunities for women. The participation of women in the activities of the executive and legislative bodies of state power in the Russian Federation members, including the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) was analyzed. A comparison is made of the number of women in the governments and parliaments of the republics based on the collected information from twenty-two republics – the Russian Federation members. The regions are identified where gender inequality is most strongly reflected in senior positions in the civil service, the main reasons for the emergence of the difference in the ratio of women and men in the government and parliaments of the republics are given.
