Gender stereotypes in Russian idioms in terms of methodological approaches to the phenomenon of gender stereotyping research

The article deals with the matters of gender stereotyping research carried out with the help of methodological approaches such as cognitive theory, social constructionism theory, social roles theory, social identity theory and power-based theory. Many Russian idioms describing men and women prove to be a manifestation of some certain approach. The approaches focusing their attention on gender differences are more clearly illustrated by the idioms than those which view stereotyping as a cognitive process.
