This article focuses on the analysis of children's reading, identifying stereotypes that children's literature creates. It is revealed that the preferences of girls have changed, the girls began to read entertaining books which are easier to understand than twenty years ago. Earlier girls read more serious and ethical books. The literature at the end of the last century and the beginning of the 21st century is the basis for the creation of everyday scenarios. The literature creates gender stereotypes: girls - ladies, girls should be surrounded by beautiful things, girls are passive, they are here for love, caring, a girl must be peaceful and gentle, show compassion and support.
