During embryonic development and individual's lifetime somatic cells accumulate genetic changes so in one individual two or more populations of cells with different genotypes can be presented. This phenomenon is known as somatic mosaicism -normal process prevalent in the beginning and end stages of human life, but some times it leads to disease development. One of the most important mechanisms of somatic mosaicism is retrotransposition. This article represents new data overview in a field of studying role of retrotransposition and AID/APOBEC RNA editing proteins system in pathogenesis of psychiatric disorders.
