The article presents an analysis of alternative approaches to the content of the categorical design “product competitiveness”. Based on a comparative analysis of various approaches to the interpretation of the content and factors of competitiveness of the goods, it was concluded that the ability of a product is a relative characteristic reflecting its ability to compete with other similar products in certain markets
