The genius of the Russian surgeon and the scientist-anatom N.I. Pirogova

The article presents a historical overview of the biographical milestones of the surgeon and the anatomist Pirogov NI. In the history of surgery, medicine and science, the genius of Pirogov occupies a special place. This is largely due not only to the fact that he was a brilliant surgeon, but also a talented researcher and innovator ahead of his time. In the first half of the XIX century in Russia there were many remarkable scientists who glorified Russian surgery, having written their names in the history of world medicine. Ilya Bulyalsky, Efrem Osipovich Mukhin, Ivan Filippovich Moyer, Ivan Fedorovich Bush - the works of these remarkable scientists and educators were well known in Europe. But it was Nikolai Ivanovich Pirogov who remembered history as the first surgeon in Russia.
