This article discusses the main features of genocide as a crime against humanity, highlights the definitions of this criminal act, as well as the convention norms on responsibility and punishment for genocide. Noting examples of genocide in the history of mankind, the importance of confronting genocide and creating mechanisms to prevent it is emphasized. The article touches upon the existing difference between political accusations of genocide and legal recognition of genocide, requiring a trial and evidence based on international standards.
