Geographical discourse in the context of theoretical problems of cultural studies

problematic character of the content of cultural knowledge through the prism of integrity and complexity of its theoretical and methodological grounds is considered in the article. Realization of the category of space and conceptualization of its meaning in the human studies shows the change of traditional ideas about space in the Russian culture. It seems to be not only differentiable, multiple, confabulated, but it is also a key factor of the regional identity within the processes of globalization and regionalization. As a result geocultural image of the region is represented as a synthesis of its spatial and cultural ideas.
