Geoeconomics and politics in modern development of arctic communications

The increasing importance of the Northern Sea Route in conditions of general climate warming in the Arctic is shown. Climatic changes in recent years have led to an increase in the number of days for navigation, which is especially important for the Northern Sea Route in the formation of conditions for LNG transportation in the eastern direction. This helps to increase the volume of transit traffic in the Arctic. Thus, with climate change there are more favorable conditions for the development of the regional economy of the Arctic. A graphic illustration of this is the implementation of the «Yamal-LNG» project. The general warming, the reduction of the Arctic space occupied by ice, the further development of armaments and military equipment, including delivery vehicles, all this somewhat "weakens" the generally accepted understanding of the Arctic as a natural obstacle in the defense system of Russia's northern territories, a barrier that can pro­tect Russia from Undesirable foreign interference. It should be especially emphasized that the deployment of long-range cruise missiles Tamahawk (BGM-109 Tomahawk) in the Arctic will allow us to «keep on sight» more than two-thirds of our territory, inaccessible from other directions. At the same time, the objects of mine-based SNF will be under threat. Thus, three complex directions of national security are highlighted in the Arctic: ensuring the safety of development of the energy resources of the continental shelf and the coast of the Arctic seas, the defense of the Northern Sea Route and countering the penetration of the enemy's attack forces into the interior of Russia
