This article deals with distinctions between methodical and methodological hermeneutics, as method and methodology. Accordingly, the necessity to distinguish the pre-methodical, the methodical, and the methodologically guided understanding of texts has been argued. Special significance of Boeckh’s ideas for the development of the main postulates of methodological hermeneutics has been proved. The role of methodological theory of hermeneutical levels and hermeneutical circles is emphasized.
